The Southern Vermont College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics named Shawn Holcombe as head women's soccer coach in March 2008.
Holcombe was most recently the head coach of girls' varsity soccer at Parish Hill High School in Chaplin, Connecticut where he turned a team that had one victory the year prior to his arrival in 2005 to a squad that went undefeated in conference play during the 2006 and 2007 (24-0), winning back to back Constitution State Conference Championships, and allowed only one goal over that span in conference play. His teams were the first in over a decade at the school to win a conference championship. In the three years, he produced eleven all conference players, five honorable mentions, and one all state player, as well as two conference players of the year.
Holcombe has seven years of collegiate experience, beginning at Manchester Community College where he served as assistant coach of men's soccer for two years. He moved on to be an assistant of women's soccer at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, competing in the prestigious New England Small College Athletic Conference. After a year, Holcombe was hired to be the assistant coach of men's soccer at Teikyo Post University. In three years, he coached the Eagles to two post season appearances, one conference finals appearance, with five all conference players in that time. He was the primary administrator for the both the men's and women's soccer teams, where his duties including recruiting, scheduling, and on field coaching. Holcombe briefly filled the role as interim head coach with Eagles before stepping down to pursue his master's degree.
Holcombe also coached at the club level with World Class Soccer in Connecticut, coaching the Under 13 boys team before taking the position at Southern Vermont College.
Holcombe has coaching certifications from the United States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of American, including the NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.
Holcombe graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University
with degrees in History and English, and is a thesis away from
Master's Degree in Modern American History from Central Connecticut
State University.
