Mark Sutherlin joined the Southern Vermont College Athletics Department in the summer of 2008 as Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Sutherlin brings to SVC experience working with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

Sutherlin earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Evansville in Athletic Training with minors in Exercise Science and Sport Psychology.  While at the University of Evansville, he was a member of the baseball program for three years where he assumed the duties of conditioning coach for the pitchers in his senior year.

Subsequently, Sutherlin attended the University of Florida where he completed his Master's Degree in Health and Human Performance.  While at the University of Florida, Sutherlin served as Athletic Trainer for university intramurals and university club sports teams, as well as providing Strength and Conditioning services to the Men's Basketball and Tennis Teams.  He also had the opportunity to work during the annual Orange and Blue scrimmage festivities in the spring of 2006.

In 2006, Sutherlin interned within the Arizona Diamondback Organization.  As a Strength and Conditioning intern, Sutherlin was stationed at the minor league complex in Tucson for extended spring training, followed by a stint with the Short Season A affiliate, Yakima Bears.

Prior to working at Southern Vermont College, Sutherlin spent time as a volunteer Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning consultant at Paoli Jr. Sr. High School, in Paoli Indiana.

Coach Sutherlin is a current member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and currently holds a Nutrition Specialist Certification from the Lifestyle Management Associates.
