BENNINGTON, Vt. The Southern Vermont baseball team had two successful scrimmages against in-state rival Saint Michaels College winning both games by scores of 15-8 and 9-5. Only five months ago the Mountaineers lost 14-4 in the regular season to Saint Michaels College. This is a testament to the amount of time Head Coach Don Schaffer is spending on recruiting, training, and developing his team into a force to reckon with.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Three Southern Vermont College baseball players were named to the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) baseball team.
Freshman catcher Dan Cook (Watervleit, NY/Watervliet-Pictured) was tabbed to the second team. Cook, hit .351 on the season with 22 RBIs, both were tops on the team. He caught every inning of every game and set a school record with 40 hits.
BENNINGTON, Vt. Freshman second baseman Dave Gage (Gloversville, NY/Broadalbin) extended his hitting streak to 10 games, but the Southern Vermont College Mountaineers fell, 14-10, to Williams College on Senior Day in an NCAA Division III non-conference baseball game played on SVCs campus at Bill Epstein Field.
