LANGHORNE, Pa. — The Southern Vermont College men's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins Saturday afternoon, defeating both York College and Lancaster Bible College by 3-0 margins in the second day of the Cairn University Classic.
The Mountaineers improve their season record to 4-1 with the Saturday victories.
Southern Vermont 3, York (NY) 0
In the second meeting between the two teams in eight days, Southern Vermont took down York with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-20.
Senior Mountaineer Keven Walley (Pico Rivera, California) led all players with a season-best 10 kills while adding three digs in the win. Classmate Scott Fitzgerald (Queensbury, New York) added nine kills, four digs and three service aces, and fellow senior Joey Dighton (Riverside, California) provided another nine kills. Senior libero Tino Escovedo (Fresno, California) tallied a match-best 14 digs while classmate setter Herson Canta (Lagunitas, California) facilitated the SVC offense by assisting on 30 of the 38 Mountaineer kills.

SVC then capped the weekend with a sweep of Lancaster Bible, taking the match with set scores of 25-12, 25-17, and 25-11.
Walley tied the match-high of nine kills, committing only one error on 17 attack attempts for a .471 hitting percentage. Dighton also registered nine kills while not having a single hitting error on 12 swings for a .750 attack percentage. Canta notched 26 assists in the win while Escovedo once again led all players in the digs column with eight.
Dighton and Fitzgerald were both named to the Cairn Classic All-Tournament Team for their performances.
The Mountaineers are now off until Tuesday, February 10 when they visit Bard College for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.
