BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College outdoor track & field coaching staff has named Bennington College junior Isabella Poulos (Milwaukee, Wis.) as the team's Athlete of the Week after its meet on April 22, 2017.

Entering Saturday's Spring Classic hosted by the University at Albany, Poulos already owned the SVC record in the women's 5000 meter run. She would crush that while competing against an extremely competitive field which included a multitude of Division I teams—crossing the line with a new record mark of 20:15.66; that was 40.8 seconds faster than she had put up a week earlier.

"Isabella ran a smart race," said SVC head coach Kathleen Newton '04, "pacing herself in the first half and coming on strong in the last mile. She has had a great track season so far—improving with each meet. She is dedicated and works hard on bettering her performances; her strong work ethic has certainly paid off."

Poulos and the Mountaineers have one final chance to qualify for the Division III New England Championships with the regular season finale this upcoming Sunday—the Pride Invitational being hosted by Regis College.
