Southern Vermont Falls 4-0 in Conference Play

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Southern Vermont women's soccer team fell to Lesley 4-0 in a conference showdown Saturday. The Lynx improved to 10-1-1 overall 4-0 in the NECC while the Mountaineers dropped to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the NECC.
Southern Vermont played some great defense in the game and almost held Lesley to a scoreless first period. Lesley scored their first goal towards the end of the first half at 42:20 on an unassisted goal by Audrey Champeau. The Lynx took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but in the second half Lesley was able to score three goals on the Mountaineers.
At 48:16, Lani Cabral-Pini the back of the net to put Lesley up 2-0. Emma Fogg and Bridget Rundquist set up the goal and each earned an assist. Cathryn Folkestad scored from the top of the box at 56:00 as Dory LeCount earned second assist of the season.
Finally, with just a few seconds remaining, freshman Hannah Chetkowski netted her first goal of the season, unassisted to cap off the scoring.
Southern Vermont goalkeeper Jillian Neudecker (Johnsonville, N.Y./Tamarac HS) was able to stop 18 shots on goal from the Lynx. It was her ninth straight game with double-digit saves for the Mountaineers.
Southern Vermont will travel to Elms College on October 8 for a 4:00 pm NECC contest.
