Mountaineers Can’t Get Past Lyndon State

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - The Southern Vermont women's soccer team played an aggressive game but could not come up with goal scoring opportunities against in-state foe Lyndon State to lose 4-0 on Wednesday.

Freshman goalkeeper Jillian Neudecker (Johnsonville, N.Y./Tamarac HS) had 18 saves out of 32 shots, 22 on goal, for the Mountaineers (0-6). Leslie Surdam (Hoosick, NY/Hoosick Falls HS) had several sprints towards the Lyndon State goal but could not get past the Lady Hornets defensive front.

Kelly Warren tallied goals at 5:22 and 12:21 of the first half to give the Lady Hornets all the offense they would need to improve to 4-3 on the season. Michelle Wilcox and Ashley Phelps added two more goals for Lyndon State.

The Mountaineers take on New England Collegiate Conference foe Mitchell College at home Saturday, September 27. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
