Women’s Soccer Still Seeking First Win

Bennington, Vt. - The Southern Vermont Women's Soccer lost it's third straight in a 6-1 loss to Word of Life Huskies on Thursday night at Everett Field.

The Mountaineers (0-3) started out great, holding Word of Life without a score well into the first half when Huskies Freshman Angela Brown hit it into the lower right side of the frame to make it 1-0.

Freshman Goalkeeper Jillian Neudecker (Johnsonville, N.Y.) had five saves but it was not enough to fend off the Huskies aggressive offense. Scoring the lone goal for the Mountaineers was Freshman Ashley Spencer (Williamstown, Mass.) on her only shot of the day. On the defensive side of the ball, Junior Tiffany McDonnell (Westborough, Mass.) hustled for the Mountaineers, who were once again running one short with just ten suited up to play.

The Huskies had goals from five different players including two from Brown. They got off 13 shots on the afternoon and really put pressure on the Mountaineers defense scoring four of their six in the second half of play.

SVC is back in action on Saturday, September 13, when they host Pine Manor (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) at 1:00 PM on Everett Field.
