BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Southern Vermont College women's soccer team lost 2-0 to the Green Mountain College Eagles despite a 20 save effort from SVC keeper Amber Mulhern.
The Eagles put themselves on the board in the 39th minute, finally breaking through a Mountaineer defense that has cut its goals allowed per game in half from last season (lost 10-0 to GMC in 2008). Taylor Riso received a clever cross from Brittany Roberts sending it past a diving Mulhern.
The presser was on Mulhern from the get go as the Eagles racked up 23 shots in the first period 12 of which were on goal.
In the second period Katie Jablonski notched an unassisted goal to make it 2-0 in the Eagles favor. Karen Davidson got the win at goalie for GMC as she snagged three saves on the day.
The loss gives the Mountaineers a 0-12 overall record, while the Eagles improved to 4-7-1.
Southern Vermont's next stop is against NECC opponent the Bay Path College Wildcats Oct. 17th, at 2:30 p.m.
