DELHI, N.Y. – After a close first half, the hosting SUNY Delhi Broncos pulled away to down Southern Vermont College 7-1 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action.

Delhi potted a goal with five minutes left to go in the opening period to bring a 2-1 edge into the break, and the Broncos then extended their lead with five goals in the final 45 minutes for the comfortable victory.

SVC (1-8) returns to New England Collegiate Conference action for its next game as the Mountaineers host Newbury College on Saturday for a 12 p.m. kickoff.

The Broncos got on the scoreboard in the 16th minute, but Southern Vermont was able to tie it up with 15:28 left to go in the stanza with the third goal of the year by senior captain Nikolas Joseph (Coventry, Conn.). The hosts pulled back in front, however, with a tally in the 41st minute to bring a one-score advantage to the intermission.

The rest of the match would be all Delhi with SVC being held to just one shot on goal in the second half. Meanwhile, the Broncos padded their cushion with five strikes in the opening 18 minutes of the period for the comfortable upper hand.

Southern Vermont junior goalie Joey Wolodkevich (Coxsackie, N.Y.) made a pair of saves in the first 57:49 of the loss (0-2) before freshman replacement Tyler Mackie (Danville, N.H.) posted four stops in the final 31:11 of play.
