CHICOPEE, Mass. – Southern Vermont College wrapped up its 2018-19 regular season Saturday afternoon—falling 66-47 to Elms College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action at Picknelly Arena.

The Blazers held a 30-20 lead at halftime and used the third quarter to garner some extra separation.

SVC (6-19, 4-14) now awaits the league's playoff bracket announcement—scheduled to be released Sunday afternoon—to see where and when the Mountaineers will be playing their Tuesday quarterfinal contest.

Southern Vermont senior Maddy Main (Bennington, Vt.) tied the team-high of nine points while leading the visitors with nine rebounds. Junior Di Smith (Troy, N.Y.) added another nine points in just 12 minutes off the bench, and sophomore Reileigh Harvey (Bennington, Vt.) chipped in with a career-best seven points in eight minutes of reserve time.

EC grabbed a 50-42 upper hand in rebounds while hitting twice as many field goals as the Mountaineers (28-14).

After going down 12 by the end of the first period, Southern Vermont started to get its offense in gear for the next 10 minutes. Junior Taylor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) had five points in the stanza to help her team outscore the Blazers in the second and trim the deficit.

The hosts extended their advantage by 10 in the third frame, however, to bring a 20-point difference into the last quarter. Smith posted seven points and three rebounds in the fourth, but it was not enough to propel the Mountaineers into a comeback as Elms continued to connect at the other end of the floor.
