MANCHESTER, Vt. – Southern Vermont College was edged 1-0 by Mount Holyoke College Saturday night in non-conference women's soccer action at Applejack Stadium.
The Lyons got on the scoreboard with the evening's lone tally just 15 minutes into the match, and their one-goal lead lasted through the final whistle.
SVC (0-3-1) is back in action on Tuesday with the Mountaineers' true home opener as the squad hosts Plymouth State University for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
Southern Vermont junior keeper Taylor Jarosz (Troy, N.Y.) totaled nine saves in the loss (0-2).
The Mountaineers had a few early chances but could not capitalize in the offensive zone. MHC went the other way and got one to go on their second shot of the night as a crossing pass from the right side found an open attacker towards the back of the box for the 1-0 upper hand.
SVC had solid opportunities to tie it up the rest of the way, but the Mountaineers couldn't convert on any of their four shots on goal in the second half as Mount Holyoke closed it out.
