FRANKLIN, Mass. – In its final weekend of the regular season, the Southern Vermont College women's soccer team registered a 2-0 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) win at Dean College on Saturday.
Mountaineer senior captain Molly Madore (Higganum, Conn.) scored in the 40th minute of play to put her team on top, and she then added another strike about 15 minutes into the second half for some insurance. SVC dominated the pace of play—taking 21 shots on the day while preventing the Bulldogs from taking any.
Southern Vermont (7-6-2, 5-3 NECC) wraps up the regular season on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. Conference home match against Bay Path University.
Mountaineer junior keeper Taylor Jarosz (Troy, N.Y.) didn't need to register any saves in collecting her fourth shutout of the season and moving to 7-5-1 on the year.
SVC put five shots on goal through the opening 39 minutes of play, but it would be the sixth that made a difference on the scoreboard. Freshman Maddie Gibney (Albany, N.Y.) set up Madore who finished for her third goal of the year.
Not long after play resumed out of the intermission, Madore notched her second of the day after being fed by sophomore Rileigh Griffiths (Milford, N.Y.) in the 60th minute. For Madore, who is the team's all-time scoring leader with 38 tallies in her career, Saturday was her first multi-goal game since September 6, 2017.
