Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Green Mountain, Johnson During Eagle Tri-match

POULTNEY, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College women's volleyball defeated both Green Mountain College and Northern Vermont University-Johnson by 3-0 tallies Saturday afternoon in a non-conference tri-match at GMC's Eagle Dome.

The Mountaineers remain undefeated (6-0) on the year with the pair of wins. They are back in action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home match against SUNY Delhi.

SVC knocked off the hosting Eagles with set scores of 25-16, 25-10, and 25-12.

Mountaineer senior captain Liv Sowles (Sacramento, Calif.) notched a match-high 13 kills while adding seven digs to her line. Senior libero Heidy Benitez (Tulare, Calif.) posted match-bests of 20 digs and six aces as junior setter Sarah Baty (Portola, Calif.) popped up 18 assists and six digs.

Southern Vermont took the middle match of the day, and its second meeting of the year with the Badgers, with game tallies of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-18.

Sowles again had a match-best in the kills column with 12, and Baty provided another 18 assists for SVC. Benitez notched 17 digs and fired across four more service aces for the Mountaineers.
